Saint Stefan (Sveti Stefan) is a small island and 5-star hotel resort some six kilometres southeast of Budva. First settled in the 15th century by fishermen, today the iconic island is home to the luxury Aman hotel. Long considered “the visiting card of Montenegro”, Sveti Stefan has been a favourite playground of a host of Hollywood stars, including Marilyn Monroe, Sophie Loren and Elizabeth Taylor. Though largely private, beaches at the northern and southern ends are open to the public.
